Body Soap
This recipe will yield one bar of soap.
Ingredients Needed
- Olive Oil Soap
- Green Mica
- Frankincense Essential Oil
- Peppermint Essential Oil
- Tea Tree Essential Oil
- Lime Essential Oil
- Driftwood Fragrance Oil
- Cardamom & Cedar Fragrance Oil
- Shrink Wrap
- Labels
Procedure – DAY ONE
- Place cutting board on the utility cart. Place digital scale on cutting board. Place a pouring pitcher on the scale and tare the weight. Cut olive oil soap in chunks and add to the pitcher. Add approximately 3.5 oz of olive oil soap to the pitcher. Store remaining soap in plastic bag for future use.
- Measure the following oils and add to a shot glass and gently stir to combine:
- 0.125 tsp Tea Tree EO
- 0.25 tsp Frankincense EO
- 0.125 tsp Lime EO
- 0.25 tsp Peppermint EO
- 0.125 tsp Cardamom & Cedar FO
- 0.125 tsp Driftwood FO
Set the shot glass with the oil aside for later steps.
3. Place the pitcher in the microwave and melt the soap in 20 second bursts until the soap has melted. Check the temperature too with the temperature gun. Do not let the soap get hotter than 140 deg F. Scorched soap is not good.
4. Add the oils to the soap. Stir gently to completely incorporate the oil into the soap.
5. Spray 91% isopropyl alcohol onto the soap to disperse and air bubbles.
6. Spritz the body mold with 91% isopropyl alcohol too to help disperse air bubbles when pouring the soap.
7. Slowly pour the soap into the mold. Spritz again with alcohol and let it cure for the day.
Procedure – DAY TWO
- Unmold the soap and place in the 4” square mold. Spritz mold and soap with 91% isopropyl alcohol.
- Measure the following oils and add to a shot glass and gently stir to combine:
- 0.375 tsp Tea Tree EO
- 0.75 tsp Frankincense EO
- 0.375 tsp Lime EO
- 0.75 tsp Peppermint EO
- 0.375 tsp Cardamom & Cedar FO
- 0.375 tsp Driftwood FO
3. Place 11.5 oz olive oil soap in the pouring pitcher and place in microwave. Heat in short bursts to melt the soap. Once melted, add a small pinch of green mica. Add oil. Gently stir to combine all the ingredients.
4. Once the soap temperature is in the 120 deg range, gently pour green soap in the 4” mold. Poor gently so as not to move the body soap in the mold. Pour slowly to help dissipate any air bubbles. After all the soap is in the mold, spritz again with alcohol.
5. Set it aside for the next day.
Procedure – DAY THREE
- Unmold the soap and Place in shrink wrap and using a heat sealer, crimp the edges as close as possible to the soap.
- Trim excess shrink wrap with scissors.
- Using an industrial heat gun and the lowest setting, apply heat to activate the shrink wrap.
- Label soap.
